Hi Jann,

No, I never received an answer to my question and since I wrote this, I have continued to research different ways to overcome my ED. I really believe that eating when hungry and stopping when full is the answer and I have found another book that has really spoken to me. It's called the Eden Diet and it's not a diet at all but it just talks about this very thing. It is very interesting how I came back to this page. I was going through my bookmarks looking for something totally different and I accidentally clicked on this link that I had saved and I noticed that your comment is pretty recent so I hope you get this information and I pray that it helps you!

Blessings to you!

Your advice was spot-on for Frank. Absolutely! A person's true character comes forth in the absence of the "fluff and stuff" that often distracts of who they are when no one is looking.

Yes, definitely your phone is ringing off the hook for Frank. =)

I was intrigued before he told you about the "wining and dining" he was doing for his fiance, in that he spoke very eloquently in the terms he used to describe his relationship with her. Many men are not interested in counseling and when they do go, they don't often take a lot with them when they leave the session. It sounds like this gentleman has done just that. It's too bad that nice Christian guys, such as himself are few and far between. That's been my "pickle".

Oh my goodness! The call about the passive husband was like a dart to my heart! In a good way, because I know for sure it was God confirming all He has been trying to tell me these past few months. I have been so down and depressed almost about my new marriage. We have only been married a year and I am so angry at times at my husband's lack of assertiveness and initiation on what seems to be so important. More importantly, I have fallen into comparing him to others I see around us. And with us we live in such close proximity to those in our church who all seem to have strong, assertive Godly men. While my husband is very Godly, he seems to be so weak to me at times. This makes it hard for me to respect him. All of this aside, I know Steve was right in that I must learn how to adapt and accommodate for my own sanity, for our marriage, for his growth and ultimately for Godliness....
Thank you, Thank you! I will listen about 3 more times and in times I am struggling.

It depends upon your theology of salvation. As I understand Paul's arguments for the consequences of sin, they are eternal separation from God. He continues that this is the very reason one cannot depend upon the law, the flesh or anything else for right standing with God except for the cross. All who put their faith into the finished work of the cross and follow Jesus toward holiness are they who are saved.

None of us is currently without sin as 1 John says. This means that sin is no longer the preventer from access to God but dependence on the flesh, the law or anything else no matter how righteous ones works.

Regarding the comment about the homosexual man who came to Christ and within the year, finally, through the Holy Spirit's leading, came to the decision that he could no longer be involved in homosexual activity: Steve Arterburn said that he believed that if the man would have died during that year he would have gone to heaven because of his confession of Christ as Savior and Lord. My question is: Would you believe the same to be true about a man who has been committing adultery regularly, then "comes to Christ:, but does not give up his adulterous lifestyle after coming to Christ, but waits until the Holy Spirit convinces him that he should give it up?

Thank you. I have been told that "something is wrong with me" for so long ... it's great to know that others have similar experiences. I just want to handle this in a Christian manner - I may have messed up this life with him but I'm not going to let him mess up my eternity.

I must agree. As an African American female I did not find his voice to be intimidating or overbearng. It sounded like to me he was just concerned about his marriage and trying to figure out the best way to handle their situation. I'm not sure what in his voice or tone gave Sherri that opinion, but from my perspective and interaction with AA men, he was definitely not intimidating.

Thanks for all you do,

Thank you Sherri for your kind compassionate way of interacting with callers. You have been an asset to New Life.

Still hoping you put your workshops you are doing now on CD's for those who can't attend in person.
