Men, what’s your identity in Christ? Before you make one more choice in life, you need to be aware that you have an identity in Christ’embrace it, live it, and let it transform you from the inside out.
Think about an Olympic athlete. He’ll devote years of training to a ten-second sprint, a two-minute floor exercise, or a five-minute program in figure skating. Who he is and what he wants to become fuels the desire to sacrifice in training.
Or how about a virtuoso musician? Some men practice all their lives to perfect their instruments, knowing they might one day sit in a row with other musicians on a world-class stage and make a piece of music written perhaps centuries ago come alive. Being a musician is their identity.
Intuitively, we know that to perform anything at a high-level means we cannot have a divided heart. Yet many Christian men who understand what it takes to succeed in other arenas of life are far too content to go through life ignoring or paying little attention to who they are in Christ.
Why? There’s probably not a single, simple answer, but there is a common denominator in every person with a divided-heart: fear.
Men, if you’re in Christ, don’t let fear limit you. You’re a son of the King and an heir of all things. Go and be who God intended you to be!
