I would strongly suggest the caller whose husband is his daughter’s “best friend” consider reading “The Emotional Incest Syndrome: What to do When a Parent’s Love Rules Your Life”. I have a lot of personal experience with this. My ex-spouse (who had multiple affairs) had an emotionally incestuous relationship with my now estranged daughter. The damage appears irreparable.
