  1. Joan Perry says:

My 7 yr. old granddaughter has been living with my husband and me for approximately four years. Her father commited suicide about four years ago so she doesn’t really remember him.
Her mother(our daughter) has been in and out of her life, but the mother always kept in contact with her, until recently. Our granddaughter has been asking where her mother is. At first she was on the run from the law. Then she turned herself in, so she is in jail.

We don’t know what to tell our granddaughter. Our only concern is for her feelings.

    Please advise. Thank you!
    Joan Perry

  2. Dear Joan, I suggest you tell your granddaughter that the reason her mother has been in and out of her life is because she is trying to get her life together and by doing so does not want to hurt you (your granddaughter). Let her know she isn’t doing very well and when she gets her life together she will be back to make your granddaughters life better as well as hers. Again, this is only a suggestion, I will pray that this bit helps and you can fill in whatever blanks I missed. She’s 7 so the sooner the better, as she will have more questions.
