I must get this question answered, only of concern. Steve, the abortion that you paid for, was it your baby or were you just helping someone out? I do remember you mentioning that you were a virgin when you got married–just a bit concerned about that. As a faithful listener and New Life member I have a right to ask this question and get it answered honestly.

It is so rare that anyone is a virgin when they get married. It’s the ideal but culture hardly allows it! I don’t think Steve needs to incriminate himself with such personal questions.

Steve Arterburn is open about his past (you should read Every Man’s Battle he helped write with Fred Stoker). I don’t believe Steve was a virgin when he got married and he got a girl pregnant in college (yes, it was his child) and yes, he paid for the abortion.
It’s AMAZING all that God has done in Steve’s life considering his past (like mine & many, may others, like pretty much most folks in the Bible too.) “God uses the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, the weak things of the world to shame the strong”. [from Corinthians}. It’s not our abilities God is looking for it’s our availability to Him.

Oops…meant to check this before I sent post.

It’s Fred Stoeker, not Fred Stoker.

No one needs to incriminate themselves with personal questions or other but if the God cannot be seen or shared in you why bother and if a personal question as such causes issues then there must be a problem with reality and with faith in that person. No one has a right to judge another, virgin or not. God takes care of fools and the like. Getting questions answered and concerns addressed are very important and it helps increase knowledge and wisdom.
