Women in the Battle did not help me at all. Rather, it hurt by adding to the trauma of betrayal that my spouse had already started (in this case by taking money for a very poor presentation). The leader of the group was very poorly informed and mostly concerned about his guitar playing. He mentioned multiple times that he was hacked that he was not selected to be the main musician for another New Life Seminar. That was some years ago so perhaps the workshop is better now but the money that I spent on that waste of time could have been put to much better use.

Dear K Meyer,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, K. I am saddened that the workshop that was offered several years ago was not helpful and seemed to compound your trauma. The current workshop that we do is very much different now. The response that we had to the one we did last year was overwhelmingly positive, thus encouraging us to make it available again. Dr. Sheri Denham, one of the New Life LIVE radio hosts, is the presenter. Having been in the trenches herself, she reaches out a hand to help others who have encountered similar difficulties. I encourage you to take a moment and listen to her video under the workshop portion of the website. In addition to Sheri, we have a panel of women come and share their own experience and the steps they have taken to get the help that they needed to move forward for healing and in their recovery process. Finally, the counselors that are selected to be the group facilitators are all women whose desires are to help those who attend process through the hurts they have encountered through the betrayals they have experienced. None of this is to minimize what you experienced, but hopefully, you can be encouraged that steps have been taken to make the workshop more suited to the needs and hurts many like yourself experienced.

Regarding the 19yo nephew… Many counseling centers and mental health institutions have financial assistance programs. This family needs to take him in to anyone that has a sliding scale or financial assistance program for assessment. The one where I am offers up to 90% off the bill and a payment plan as low as five dollars a month. Most of these are not Christian as they accept government grants so they can do this but they do offer many services to manage things like bi-polar disorder.
