As a teen and even into adulthood, I was bothered by certain noises and movements as well, such as chewing during dinner time. I’m sure it was annoying to my family that simple things bothered me tremendously, however, my parents were patient and did allow me especially during dinner to bring a book to read while continuing and encouraging conversation as was our routine. We also would have music playing. It helped in distracting me from focusing on particular sounds.
