There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. – Proverbs 16:25

Doing Wrong for the Right Reason

Have you ever done something for all the right reasons and yet the outcome was a total disaster?

Not long ago, a forest fire consumed nearly 1,000 acres in the local mountains. The fire raged on for days, as fire fighters battled to save the homes in its path. Investigators were able to trace the start of the fire back to a camper who had been staying in the area. Apparently he had decided to burn his trash as a way of protecting the environment.

In our human frailty, we quite often do the wrong thing for all the right reasons. The only way to be certain that you avoid the pitfalls is to let the Lord map your course.

I challenge you today, to make a habit of seeking the Lord’s guidance in every decision that you make. Allow Him to direct the steps you take in your life. It will prevent you from making costly mistakes. When you begin seeking God’s instruction through prayer instinctively, moment by moment, day by day . . . You will find yourself in the right road and going the right direction.

Life is pretty much like a cafeteria line. It offers us many choices, both good and bad. The Christian must have a spiritual radar that detects the difference not only between bad and good but also among good, better, and best. – Dennis Swanberg

In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing.Theodore Roosevelt
