Taste and See God’s Goodness

Taste and see that the  Lord  is good.  Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! – Psalm 34:8

Let’s remember, too, that tasting God’s goodness often happens in the simple, everyday moments. When we take a walk and breathe in the crisp fall air, when we hear laughter around the table, when we feel His peace settle over our anxious hearts—that’s His goodness on display. James 1:17 reminds us, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” Nothing we enjoy is by accident—it’s all a gift from His generous hand.

So, this season, let’s not rush through it. Instead, let’s linger in gratitude, knowing that our God is faithful through every season. As Psalm 100:5 declares, “For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” His goodness isn’t something we have to earn—it’s freely given, poured out with love and grace.

When we pause to truly taste and see His goodness, our hearts naturally overflow with thanksgiving. Gratitude shifts our focus from what we lack to all that we’ve been given. So, as you gather with family and friends, take time to notice the little blessings—the smiles, the stories, the warmth of togetherness. Each one is a reminder that God is near, and He is good.

May this Thanksgiving not just fill our plates but also fill our hearts with worship and wonder for the One who provides it all.

Cultivate the ability to say, “Thank you for everything,” and you will find that everything is a gift. – Unknown
