If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water. – John 4:10
A news story described a fifty-one-year-old man charged with burglary. What made the case unusual was that he was the son of a billionaire oil tycoon. He was reportedly found hiding under a table in a shop with a handful of miscellaneous items.
The story is a sobering picture of someone who had access to immense wealth yet was living as though he had nothing. In a similar way, Christians can sometimes live beneath the spiritual riches they have been given. As heirs with Christ, they possess an inheritance far greater than anything this world can offer. Yet it is easy to chase temporary approval, material possessions, or worldly success instead of resting in the love, acceptance, and abundant provision of God.
How do you see yourself? Prince? Or Pauper? It’s a choice only you can make. God yearns for you to choose to be His child.
