Trusting God

I trust in you, my God! Do not let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat. – Psalm 25:2

The Serenity Prayer by theologian Reinhold Niebuhr is said at recovery meetings, and by individuals seeking to find peace in their lives. Recovery is the process by which people heal their internal wounds, which have caused external challenges such as addiction but can also include other disruptions to our peace of mind and relationships.

If you struggle with anger, recovery is a process that will help you understand what is below the external expression of anger. You can take “steps” that will guide you toward healing and wholeness, no longer driven by anger.

Some people think recovery is only for drug and alcohol addiction. But when anything—substance, emotion, relationship, etc.—is directing our life, we need a path to healing. Some have referred to recovery as a sanctification process, clearing away the things in our lives that have replaced God. If you are tired of being controlled by anger, begin the process of recovery of your life today.

God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace; T
aking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next. Amen.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord Jesus, you have provided me freedom. Help me no longer be enslaved by anger or anything else. Thank you for your redeeming power that is at work in me. Help me be willing to do whatever you call me to do, trusting that you will make all things right. Amen.
